Terms of Service

1. What the Service does

WriteMeASong turns a short form into a song. You can start from a person (their name, how you know them, the occasion, a message and up to 3 memories, which are optional), from any topic or story, or from lyrics you already have, and you choose a style. For the first two, an AI model writes lyrics for you to read and edit; for your own lyrics, you paste them and we check them. You can then ask for the lyrics to be sung. A song is about 2:30 long. Everything is created by AI.

The first song on each account is free to preview. Unlocking a full song costs 1 credit. The details are in sections 6 and 9 and on the pricing page.

2. Eligibility: 18 and older

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. The Service is not for minors. By ticking the required box before each song is created, you confirm you are 18 or older.

You need a Google account to log in. Everything except the static pages and gift pages shared with you requires logging in.

3. What you submit

You are responsible for what you type into the form, the lyrics you edit and the message on a gift page. By submitting it you confirm that:

• you are allowed to use it, including the names and stories of other people in it;
• it does not break the Acceptable Use policy, for example it contains no hateful, sexual, self-harm or minor-related content and no pasted copyrighted lyrics;
• you do not ask us to imitate a real singer or to mock or impersonate a real public figure.

4. AI-generated content

Songs are made with AI using Refrain, our song engine. Refrain combines third-party AI models: lyrics are written by Google Gemini (model gemini-4-argon), with Anthropic Claude (Claude Opus 5.5) as a backup; the music and vocals are generated by Suno (model V6), which we use through the Kie.ai API; and content checks use Google Gemini (gemini-3.5-flash-lite). Because the results are produced by AI:

• they can contain mistakes, odd phrasing, a mispronounced name or a style that is not what you pictured. We do not promise a particular result;
• similar or identical results may be produced for other people;
• we add no audible watermark of our own, and free previews are not lowered in quality;
• we instruct the models not to imitate real singers, but we cannot guarantee that no result resembles an existing work.

5. Rights and permitted use

Songs are for personal gifts and sharing, for example giving a song to a friend or family member and sharing the link. We do not promise that you may use a song commercially, for example in ads, in resale, or for release on streaming services, and you should not rely on the Service for that.

You keep any rights you have in the story you submit. You allow us and our AI providers to process it only to check it and make your song, as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not present a song as recorded by a real artist.

6. Free preview, credits and unlocking

• Each account can make 1 free song with up to 2 versions. Free versions play a 45-second preview. They cannot be downloaded.
• Lyrics: the lyric writer produces up to 3 drafts per song. You can also edit the lyrics by hand; every save is checked by our content filter.
• 1 credit unlocks 1 full song. An unlocked song plays in full, can be downloaded as an MP3 as often as you like, and includes unlimited revisions (new versions of the same lyrics), subject to a fair-use limit of 25 per song.
• Unlocked songs are kept for as long as your account exists; deleting your account deletes them. Songs that are never unlocked, and their previews, are deleted after 30 days.
• A failed render doesn't count — you can try again at no cost.
• Only one song per account can be generated at a time.

7. Gift pages

After unlocking a song you can create a gift page with a message of up to 500 characters. The page is visible to anyone who has its link, or only to you if you set it to private. Gift pages are not indexed by search engines, but anyone with the link can open them and share it, so only share it with people you trust.

When someone other than you opens a gift page or plays the song through it, the song counts as used (see the Refund Policy). The message is checked by our content filter and we may remove a page that breaks these terms.

8. Acceptable use and moderation

Everything you submit and everything we generate is checked automatically. Content that breaks the Acceptable Use policy is blocked, and we may suspend accounts that try to get blocked content made. If the checking service is unavailable, requests are blocked rather than let through, and nothing is charged or counted.

9. Payments and refunds

Credits are sold as one-time packs and are paid through our payment provider, Waffo. We do not see or store your card details. Prices are shown in US dollars on the pricing page before you pay.

Refunds follow the Refund Policy: unused songs can be refunded within 30 days of purchase; used songs cannot. If Waffo refunds an order in full, or the order is disputed, the credits left from that order are removed from your account. A partial refund is only processed through a refund request you submitted from your account page.

10. Your account

You can delete your account and data at any time from the account page. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the Acceptable Use policy. If your account is suspended you can still log in and see it, and you can appeal by emailing support@writemeasong.org within 14 days of our notice.

11. Availability and liability

The Service is provided “as is”. AI providers can be slow or unavailable, and we do not promise that it will always work or that a song will be ready by a particular time. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters for money you already paid, we will tell you. Questions: support@writemeasong.org.
